PURE Projects

LEAF

PURE received funding from the Department of Energy and Climate Change early on 2012 to conduct a survey of the housing stock of Polperro and the potential benefits of reducing the amount of money we spend on heating our homes. This involved the rush of community events that we had in February and March. The reports from the LEAF project inform our other energy related projects and give baseline against which to measure future changes.

CERT funded insulation installations

This is the scheme which you will have had many organisations contacting you to install insulation for free or heavilly subsidised rates. The CERT funding is running out and will be replaced with a system of loans rather than grants and as such now is the time to act as many providers are closing their schemes as the money runs out.

School roof

After false starts over the summer months, we were given the "in principle" authority in October to proceed with a project to install Solar PV panels on the roof of the school. This will have many benefits:

  • Provide the school with free electricity when conditions are favourable for generation.

  • Provide the community with the opportunity to use free electricity during the holidays.

  • Generate some small profits that can be used to benefit the community.

  • Be an educational beacon for renewable energy for the students and their families.

Work is underway to finalise the technical, regulatory amd financial aspects of the project.

Renewable Heating Premium Payments (RHPP2)

DECC have an £8 million underspend on Renewable Heat Incentives that are being distributed to worthy community groups of which PURE was successful in winning a place in the final group and is submitting a proposal to secure grant funds for households to part-fund the installation of renewable heating technologies.
